Iris Malone is a Senior Analyst at GeoQuant. They were previously an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs as well as a research affiliate with the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education (NCITE) Center, a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence. Prior to joining GWU, they were a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation. They received their Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2019.

While in academia, Dr. Malone’s research agenda focused on two projects, which both entail the use of computational social science methods. First, they focused on the causes of terrorism and insurgency. Second, they focused on how states identify and respond to emerging security threats.
